As many as 90 percent of a newspaper published in Brazil began to leave Google News. This attitude made after the Brazilian Association of Newspapers make a recommendation to its members to ban Google to use content aggregators in their possession from the search engine. To quote the BBC page, Google News, refused to pay the content becomes the main reason for the media to leave Google News Brazil. Additionally, Google News also considered even keep traffic coming to their site.

Whereas before, Google said the service had increased traffic to news sites. But Google's statement flatly contradicted by the actors in the Brazilian media.

"By staying in the Google News does not help us to grow our digital get visitors, quite contrary (with Google's statement)," says Newspaper Association President, Carlos Fernando Lindenberg Neto.

"By providing the first lines of our news to Internet users, this service reduces the chance that they will read the whole story on our website," said Neto, in an interview with the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas.

The association was better known in the acronym ANJ. Google also began experimenting with ANJ cooperation in December 2010. With this cooperation, I could take the first line of the news to lure the reader's curiosity and traffic news site reaching readers who read the full story on news sites. But according to the ANJ experiment failed. For many readers who are satisfied to read the first lines of the news. Moreover, of the 154 titles were taken Google News, mostly drawn from leading media in Brazil, such as the O Globo and O Estado de Sao Paulo.

Google Insist

In a meeting with the Press Association of America in Sao Paulo, Google insisted will not change its policy by paying to the news site.

"Google News funnel millions of clicks to various news sites around the world," said Google Director of Public Policy, Marcel Leonardi.

Leonardi then makes the analogy that ANJ request was the same as the restaurateur to taxi drivers to collect money. And the taxi driver had taken tourists to enjoy the culinary choices in a number of restaurants.

Although it will leave Google News, ANJ said many news sites that will be listed in the aggregator. Internet users who use Google, not Google News, will also be able to find content from Brazilian news site in Google search engine.
