A couple of points. Firstly it's usually a good idea when quoting wikipedia to include the primary reference that the quote or opinion is based on. This is a great time to buy a house right now. The prices are the lowest. Government intervention will stabalize the credit crisis and more deserving people with good credit score will be able to secure loans/mortgages. If the government bail-out doesn't work, well, gc and any related discussion will be irrelevant. So we just have to expect (or shall I say assume) that bail-out will work, which will stablize the markets, that means this is the bottom of housing crisis i.e. lowest prices available to buy a house. There couldn't be a better times to start an American dream....

You nailed it brother! SRK is just another moron who thinks he owns the world! All things being equal, there is no reason for him to get any special treatment at all -- he is no diplomat or a guest of this country. If there was something wrong with his luggage and/or profile that made the CBP flag him and question him, I don't see anything wrong with that. This is just a case of another innocent civilian getting affected for no reason. SRK has travelled to US many times and USCIS has his finger print and knows who he is. Still just bcs his last name was khan, they found reason to interrogate him for 2 hours. I just don't see any logic in what they did. We are not saying they should not have all these security checks but it should be consistent and should have some meaning.

This is just a case of another innocent civilian getting affected for no reason. SRK has travelled to US many times and USCIS has his finger print and knows who he is. Still just bcs his last name was khan, they found reason to interrogate him for 2 hours. I just don't see any logic in what they did. We are not saying they should not have all these security checks but it should be consistent and should have some meaning.

However, these students are not completely exempted from the H1B quota for each year. Whatever, if PERM filing in year 2008 has witnessed 46% drop since 2007 ... it tells us a lot.
I presume the decrease in labour filing in 2008 might be a possibility due to the offshore Indian companies which shifting to H1B sponsorship instead of L1 sponsorship. Because most of the L1s being rejected with these companies recently. So they switching to H1 sponsorship. And obviously they normally dont sponsor GC. So this is just my thinking on why the labor filings decreased in 2008 compared to 2007.

If you aren't going to be in US, even if you have an agent, there's is a risk that they might call you up for an interview you may not be able to go to.
If you are hard-up on info and don't want to go thro' headache, try one of the reputed ones.. stay away from WWICS..
For couple of thousand.. if you can get little help and good advise, it's not bad.. but most of these shops are akin to Desi consultants in USA. Lie, Cheat and make money .. that's the mission statement..
Apart from that.. process and forms are on the web. Tricky part is getting a job and living in Canada .. It's a honduras with worse looking people..
