This incident has nothing to do with India. It just happened that SRK was from India.
After 9/11 we all know security measures are tight and rightly so.
For them it does not matter if it is
1. SR Khan who works in movies or
2. XYZ Khan who is a computer programmer or a cab driver.
If the name flashes in the computers they do the required checks.
Do you feel people with Muslim sounding names are targeted more?
No wonder, it is likely. DO NOT Blame USA TSA for that. Blame Osama Bin Laden for putting innocent Muslims through this.

I applied for EAD paying old fees in Jul 2007, and I renewed with new fees this year in Jun 2008, would like know if I need to pay renewal fees again when I renew my EAD in Jun 2009.

Check my post . I withdrawn my post after realizing that it was not amusing to others. What else I could have done other then withdrawing my post ? How do you feel I should react when some one has gone personal ? Just giving lip service will not do good either. Where is the plan ? Did I said in my post anywhere that I will create hurdles for any movement for opposing this memo ? Mind it so many rules like AC21 or working for new employer just after transferring H1b never came out of any immigration forum thread. Gold rush of 2007 was result of Aila efforts . It all came after AILA negotiated with USCIS and I am keeping my eyes there. I am checking most sites because am worried too . Unfortunately people are forcing me to praise and sing for my ex employer which I will never do.Venting against my ex and supporting the memo are two different things.Anyway
I suggest try to establish contacts with AILA. That's the way to go. Unfortunately that's pointer is missing in this forum.
I am not sure if AILA really did anything for us in 2007. Logically thinking they are just a business and they care about only their income. They do not need to worry about our welfare. So I dont expect AILA would fight for us.

I don’t get the point? If somebody comes here on visitor visa and files for 485 or people here illegally flip over to EB blah blah blah then you fix the loophole, you just don’t kill the 485 measure. If you have a brain tumor then you surgically remove the tumor. You just don’t cut of the head. Your solution to oppose 485 seems similar to that. What about the people who have been waiting for for a couple of years to get the labor and I140 cleared and cannot apply for 485 now, If you get laid off without 485 you don’t get AC21 provisions to get a similar job and the whole process is gone down the drain. Why are you worried about somebody who might do something in future when you don’t even want to bother about the people who would benefit from 485 measure right now and right here?
As you yourself suggested people from India (eb2 and eb3) should not worry about looking at Visa bulletins for the next 10 years because at current pace it will take at least 10 years. There is no company in USA in technology field which will keep you in the same position for 10 years. There is possibility that retrogression begins in August. The USCIS maail department will acept only those cases the clerk could manually enter into the system by July 31st and then send all those applications back which he could not enter manually

Just an FYI , I recently read in an article that Australia is changing its rules to require 4 yrs residency instead of 2 for citizenship.
In Canada you apply after 3 yrs but it takes nearly a yr to get it so defacto its 4 yrs. There was a lot of controversy in both Australia and Canada recently because they had to evcate thousands of Australian/Canadians of Lebanese origion from Lebanon during the recent Hezbollah/Israel standoff there.They were questioning if it was worthwhile giving citizenship to ppl who would never work or pay taxes in Oz/Can.
The company I work for has an office in Sydney, Australia and recently opened one in Toronto but it is not fully operational. In such a case E3 might work better than Canada PR since it takes 3 years to get Canadian citizenship and 2 years to get Australian citizenship and one could potentially retain the US job if one manages to strike an arrangement with their employer. Also this option might work better for those whose home country is close to Australia (eg Indonesia, Singapore, New Zealand etc). Also note the benefit of the E-3 is that one's spouse can work without restrictions and it is indefinitely renewable while the TN's spouse is not allowed to work. They both have pros and cons. Geographically and culture wise (ie way of life) Canada makes for an easier transition back to the US. Personally I have applied for the Canadian PR for the reasons you cite.

Yes we definitely have an uncertain future but that should not stop people like us for staying here, buying house, cars and living a decent life here in US.
Getting a GC is part of my employment process for staying here for a longer duration without any visa hassles, this should not stop atleast any Indian to live life to the fullest here in US.

This substitution is increasing backlogs, is unfair to people waiting in line, encourages employer exploitation since they use it as an incentive to woo employees and then exploit them, 'selling' is illegal but one must complain against the employer and the employee for DOL to act.
Lawyers are part of this scam. I have read in some posts that even AILA opposed when labor substitution was being ended. It is a lost business opportunity for their lawyer members!!

Yes, Advani runs his politics on religion and Ram temple. Do you think congress does not use religion? Do you hear the news that in Kerala congress has fielded candidates supported by church? Thanks to everyone for taking an active role in the funding drive. It is always a frustrating experience every time we want to raise funds. In our overzealousness sometimes we also hurt the effort by being too harsh on people who are not contributing. We do not wish to encourage any finger pointing. Members start asking all kinds of questions on the forum and kill the initiative thereby hurting the organization and ultimately themselves. At this time we are no longer going to ask for funds on the forum and will continue the IV effort with what we have from the contributions members have made. Members who feel they wish to contribute will contribute if they feel for the cause in their heart. Admins have decided to close all such threads so that we can focus on the other IV work rather than solving disputes between members and making sure no anonymous member is hurting other anonymous member?s feelings.
